Striving For Mediocre

Seems like the goal has changed. It is as if no one cares about being the best anymore. Food is getting worse, movies have nothing to say, and television after only the lowest common denominator. It is no longer a matter of trying to be the best, it is instead a quest not to be the worst.

McDonald's is not bad. It is not great either. It is edible, that is about all you can say. So why is there a trend of other fast food restaurants trying to emulate the food of McDonald's? Why is everyone making a version of the Big Mack? Jack in the Box has the Bonus Jack, Burger King has the Big King, Carl's Jr (Hardee's) has the Big Carl. The Big Mack is edible, but it is hardly great. It might only be fast food, but they could do better. Carl's Jr has made some great food in the past, the Prime Rib Burger and Steakhouse Burger come to mind, neither of which they make anymore.

Television has gotten worse. The fact anyone knows who the person pictured above is, is proof television television is doing harm. How can "Honey Boo Boo" do better in terms of ratings than "30 Rock". "30 Rock" is a consistently well written and funny show. "Honey Boo Boo" is  very ugly white trash family eating horrid food and reinforcing stereotypes. When did quality stop mattering? When did shit become the gold standard?

Movies. Sure it is January, and movies are usually weak this time of year. However that is no excuse for Hansel and Gretel being released. How did this happen? Some one had to first think this was a good idea, present it to their boss, who would then need to green light this idea. A writer then has to right it, and actors have to agree to be in it. How does all of this happen for an idea this bad?

So to sum up, the world is getting worse. Food is getting bland, TV is making you less intelligent, movies... dear god... When did being the best stop being the goal?

What The Hell Happened To Restaurants?

It seems like the management of restaurants is not what it once was. Lately it seems they are doing something wrong. They seem to running out of items, and not minor items either. It seem they are running out of the items you would most likely go into them to get. Three restaurants had this happen, and all in the same week.

Was with a few friends this weekend, and around about 8pm we decided to order a few pizza for delivery  So we give Pizza Hut a call, as they are the closest pizza available. Well, this idea ended quickly, as they were "out of pizza". It seems they ran out of the frozen dough discs that they make all of there pizzas with. Sure it was 8pm on a Saturday, but that is no excuse. One would think they would have like an emergency stock, just on case, but no. If you are a pizza place, and have no pizza, why are you even staying open?

Right now, at the time of writing this, El Pollo Loco is running a special for a 10$ whole chicken. Seem like a good deal, but you sit in the drive through, engine idling, only to be told they are out of chicken. This has happen to me several times. Everything at this place (nearly) requires chicken. How does even a grossly incompetent manager allow this to happen? This is worse than Pizza Hut, as this not only wastes time, but also gas. One would think they would put a sign in the window, so you wouldn't waste 20 minutes in the drive through with everyone having the same conversation with the window.

The worst offender on this lately is Marie Callender's. There have special that come with your choice of pie. A decent deal, or they would be except for one thing, they seem to have problems keeping pies in stock. So I eat, and at the end of the meal the waitress ask what kind of pie I want. I say "Kahlua, please". A moment later she returns "We are out of Kahlua", very well I think, it is not that common a pie. So I say, "Fine, then I will have pecan pie, please". She goes in that, and comes back "We are out of that too". So at this point I ask "Well what pies do you have in stock?", to which she replies "I don't know". First this waitress should be fired for being this dense, secondly how can more than one pie be completely out?

What happened to the people that manage restaurants? Did they all collectively decide to shove their heads up their asses? Did the large corporations that own these places cut down on bonuses, and they are taking it out on customers? Either way, something needs to be done.

Answering a few questions.

Every so often I get question from people about myself and this blog. So rather than answering them on a repeated basis, we are going to answer the more common of them right here for all to see. These are questions about myself, about this blog, about my youtube videos. This seemed like the best place to answer them.

Q: Why do you do this?

A: I am unemployed and hoping to get some money out of it.

Q: Have you gotten any money out of this?

A: No. Not yet. Guess I need more readers/viewers/fans.

Q: Why are your videos always photo-montages?

A: Because I don't have a camera that does good video. Also youtube won't let you monetize videos with footage from video games or television or movies. So I am stuck with photo-montages for the time being. Honestly I would like to move on to something a bit more complex.

Q: Where are you from?

A: Southern California. Its too damn hot.

Q: You seem angry in your posts/videos, are you really that upset?

A: Sometimes, but usually it is just for comedic effect. Exaggeration is a useful tool in comedy.

Q: I found something you said/wrote offensive, what do you plan to do about it?

A: Not a damn thing.

Q: Why do you have so much negativity toward ___________?

A: Well one of two options. Either I have major psychotic hatred for that subject, or I am frequently inspired form over exposure to it. Not sure if there is really a difference between the two options.

Q: Where do you get your ideas from?

A: From the voices in my head. I wish they would quiet down sometimes.

Q: Do you take requests?

A: Sometimes, if they strike my fancy.

If you have a question, please ask, maybe we could do this again. I read every comment I get, and I love any feedback. Good, or bad, I want to hear what you have to say.

Eating at Islands.

I love eating at Islands. They have good burgers, and some of the best french fries around these parts. I go with friends often to enjoy a meal. In short, I am a fan of this chain.

I ate there today. Drank about 12 diet cokes, ate my fill of bottomless fries. Had a good burger, looked something like this.

However, while the food was great (as always), there was one thing that seemed a bit off. While eating I noticed a waitress. She looked a bit overdone, with her large fake tits and overly tight clothing. She was not serving my section, but was in the section just one over. What bothered me about her, was that in her very tight pants, there seemed to be a huge cock. So she was a transvestite.

Now that is there life choice, and I take no issue with that. People should do what they want. However, it seems like some slightly less tight pants might be in order. Might be wrong, but I don't think anyone wants a huge cock in there face while eating. Just a thought.

Then again, it could of been a woman play a joke on the costumers. I don't know, I didn't ask.
